Steve Gaynor Unveils New Game ‘Springs, Eternal’
Steve Gaynor, co‑creator of the acclaimed game ‘Gone Home,’ has revealed his latest project, ‘Springs, Eternal.’ This marks Gaynor’s first full‑sized game in eight years, following a period of significant change for his studio, Fullbright.
A Studio in Transition
Fullbright, known for games like ‘Gone Home’ and ‘Tacoma,’ underwent a transformation when Gaynor decided to work solo. The decision came after the studio split while working on ‘Open Roads.’ Gaynor reflected on his strengths, admitting that managing large projects and directing others wasn’t his forte. In 2023, he began working on a new game independently, hoping to move forward with humility and productivity.
From ‘Toilet Spiders’ to ‘Springs, Eternal’
Before ‘Springs, Eternal,’ Gaynor created ‘Toilet Spiders,’ a small horror game set in an abandoned government facility. Now, he’s crafting an atmospheric adventure that blends romance and horror, featuring a retro pixelated art style.
Game Overview
‘Springs, Eternal’ is set in Stillwater Springs, a secluded woodland lodge that promises relaxation but delivers terror. Players explore the misty resort at night, armed with only a flashlight, and interact with other characters seeking solace. The game involves uncovering fragments of memory to understand why the protagonist is there, with hints of a past romance with a girl named Twyla.
Release Information
The game is slated for launch in 2026 and is already available to wishlist on Steam.
