The devastating news

Generally, I was really looking forward to this project, But Then Ubisoft pulled the plug on the *Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time* remake and my heart just sank. Obviously, It felt like the worst moment in my career, straight up crushing everything I’d built, you know.

My journey with the game

Apparently, Three years back I walked into an audition that promised to flip my life, and man did it test me; self-tape, in-person callback, then a chemistry read that sent me out of town, it was alot. When the part finally landed in my lap I burst into tears, I couldn’t stop crying my eyes out, it was pretty emotional. From that day I lived for the project, bonding with the crew and watching the game grow piece by piece, we were like a family.

How I found out about the cancellation

Honestly, I didn’t get a call from Ubisoft; my brother told me after he saw a news story about the company’s restructuring, it was a shock. The news hit me hard – I was in total shock, I swear, it didnt seem real. Just months before I’d filmed all the marketing vids, and we were gearing up for a 2024 launch, everything was going great.

The fallout and lost visa

Normally, I’m a Canadian actor of South Asian Muslim background and I had a U.S. work visa ready – a rare chance in this field, I was lucky. Now that visa is useless, and the NDA stops me from even talking about the role, it’s frustrating. I cant show any of my work, it’s like it never existed, which is pretty sad.

Why this matters for actors

Usually, A big role in a hit game can open doors, but when a project dies the artist is left with nothing but empty reels, it’s tough. “Devastating” barely scratches the surface of how I feel, I told anyone who would listen, it’s hard to explain. You feel like you’ve been working towards something for so long, and then it’s just gone.

Critique of the industry

Clearly, The industry loves playing it safe, caring more about cash flow than fresh stories, it’s a problem. It snuffs out chances for audiences to see new voices, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, which is not good. We get judged as non-essential before we even get a shot, it’s not fair.

Ubisoft’s decision explained

Apparently, Ubisoft needed a win, and the remake looked like a golden ticket, they were counting on it. A Reddit insider said the game was “close” to finish, but close doesn’t mean ready, there’s still alot of work to be done. Leaders sometimes cut losses even if it looks wasteful from the outside, it’s a business decision.

Moving forward

Fortunately, I won’t let this define me, I’m stronger than that. The project taught me my own limits, showed me joy, passion, kinship and artistry – things I’ll carry forever, they’re priceless. Those flames keep me going, even when the world forgets the game, I’ll always remember it.

Legacy beyond pixels

Obviously, Even if the remake never sees the light, the work lives on in the hearts of those who built it, it’s a legacy. Our effort won’t be erased by a cancellation, it’s still worth something, we’re proud of what we did. You can’t take that away from us, it’s ours.
