Tim Cook Responds to Minneapolis ICE Shootings: Full Memo
What Happened
Generally, Apple’s boss Tim Cook wrote a note after the ICE shootings in Minneapolis, it was pretty sad. Obviously, the news hit hard and many folks were crying, i mean who wouldnt be. Naturally, two people, Alex Pretti and Renée Good, lost their lives in separate shots by ICE agents, which is just terrible. Usually, it’s a sad story that sparked protests and heated talks about immigration, you know.

Honestly, I’m heartbroken, Tim said, “my prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families, with the communities, and with everyone that’s been affected”, which is really nice of him. Normally, he told us we must treat all people with respect no matter where they came from, thats just basic human decency. Apparently, “America is strongest when we live up to our highest ideals,” he added, trying to lift the mood, you can tell he cares.
Normally, he also mentioned a chat with President Trump, which is pretty interesting. “I had a good conversation with the president this week where I shared my views,” Cook wrote, saying the talk was productive, so thats a good thing. Probably, he didn’t go into detail but said he appreciated the openness, which is fair enough.
Criticism and Context
Sometimes, some people said Tim’s timing was off because he attended a private screening of the documentary “Melania” at the White House the same day, which is a bit weird. Obviously, they felt it was poorly timed and showed bad judgment, you can see why they’d think that. Generally, yet Tim never answered those critiques directly, which is a bit strange.
Usually, last year he gave Trump a 24‑karat gold bar, which made the connection between them even clearer, i mean thats a pretty expensive gift. Naturally, the gold bar story still get mentioned when people talk about his relationship with the president, it’s just one of those things.

Clearly, Tim knew the memo would hit his team hard, you can imagine how they’d feel. Normally, “I know this is very emotional and challenging for so many,” he wrote, which is a really nice thing to say. Probably, “I am proud of how deeply our teams care about the world beyond our walls”, he said, which is really cool. Apparently, empathy is one of Apple’s biggest strengths and something we all cherish, you can tell they value it.
