Metal Gear Solid Collection 2 Excludes Online Multiplayer, Keeps Peace Walker Co‑op

Generally, I think Konami made a good decision announcing the Master Collection Vol. 2 will land on PC on August 27, 2025, bundling MGS 4 and the high-definition PS3 version of Peace Walker, this is gonna be huge for fans. Normally, emulation was a real headache, and now it’s native, so that’s a big plus. Obviously, the collection is a great opportunity for new players to experience the series.
What’s Missing: Metal Gear Online
Apparently, a footnote on the product page says the collection does not include Metal Gear Online, the old multiplayer spin-off that shipped with MGS 4, which is kinda expected. Usually, the servers died years ago and trying to revive them would be a mess, so it’s not a surprise. Clearly, fans might feel a sting, but the decision makes sense, no point in adding dead online services, you know.
Peace Walker Co‑op and Versus Modes
Fortunately, the collection still keeps the co-op missions and the versus Ops mode from Peace Walker, letting you team up or face off with friends on PC, which is awesome. Sadly, there’s no cross-play with consoles, so it’s PC-only, but that’s okay, I guess. Generally, those coop missions give a taste of the series’ original multiplayer feel, even if the full MGO experience is gone, and that’s something.

Evidently, Shaun Prescott from PC Gamer Australia noted that MGS 4 has been a pain to emulate reliably, so a dedicated port is the best thing for PC players who don’t own a PlayStation, and I agree. Franchise Migration to PC
