New All-Black Apple Vision Pro Prototype Parts Revealed
A new image shared by prototype collector Kosutami offers a glimpse into an unreleased all‑black version of the Apple Vision Pro headset. The image showcases parts that appear to be a left power strap and audio pod, complete with an attached power cable. These components closely resemble the existing hardware but feature a sleek dark finish that has not been seen on any production models of the Vision Pro.
Vision Air – The Thinner, Lighter Concept
Kosutami has previously claimed that Apple is testing a thinner and lighter mixed‑reality headset, internally referred to as “Vision Air.” According to the leaker, this model would feature a Midnight‑colored exterior and achieve weight reduction by using titanium for several structural components and the battery enclosure. Despite these changes, the headset is said to retain an aluminum exterior but with a deep bluish‑black finish, a departure from the current silver and white color scheme of the Vision Pro.
New Connector Design
Earlier this year, Kosutami also shared images of a new Lightning‑style connector in Midnight, allegedly intended for a next‑generation Vision headset. The existing Vision Pro uses a 12‑pin connector, while the unreleased cable features only eight pins, suggesting a potential redesign of the external battery system for future headsets.
Development Pause
However, Bloomberg reported in October that Apple had paused development on all Vision headsets to accelerate work on AI‑powered smart glasses. This shift in focus has left the future of the Vision Pro and its variants uncertain.
What It Means
The emergence of these prototype parts offers a fascinating look at what could have been the next iteration of the Apple Vision Pro, had development continued as originally planned.
