Canadian Scammer Steals $2M in Crypto Exposed
I’ll tell you all about this Canadian scammer named Hoby who stole over $2 million in cryptocurrency, you’ll be shocked by this!
Overview of the Canadian Scammer Hoby
This person, Hoby, tricked people into giving away their crypto funds through fake social media profiles that looked very real, they were very convincing, you could say they’re very good at this.
The Method by Which Hoby Operated
He used that money to buy some rare usernames for his social media accounts, it’s rather interesting how someone like him spends the money they got illegally, sometimes he puts that money into things like bottle service and gamblers, anyway he’s very proud of what he’s done, that’s a bad thing!
One time, he even posted a screenshot of how he stole 21,000 XRP (about $44,000, that’s nothing to us but a lot to him) from a Coinbase user. After analyzing the address, this has been traced back to the address of 2 more of these Coinbase-related thefts, adding up to about $500,000. He bought these stolen XRP for Bitcoin via these little exchange boxes on the computer where it’s done instantly.
ZachXBT identified that Bitcoin address with the swaps so by February 2025, he flaunted how much money he had in that wallet (a whopping $237,000) when someone asked him what his wallet balance was, he mentioned it in the group chat. The way he spent his stolen money was by buying more things for his social media profile like usernames and flaunting it on Instagram and Telegram without caring for anyone or if they saw him.
More and More Proof Against Hoby
There’s a video circulating on the web where Hoby was caught social-engineering someone which allowed everyone to see his email address and Telegram contact, and after all this, he still continued to show off his lifestyle like nothing ever happened in his social media posts, isn’t it obvious that that’s going to catch up to him?
Someone analyzed his social media posts and found that Hoby seems to be located in Abbotsford near Vancouver, a Canadian law enforcement expert urges law enforcement agencies to take this case and do something since there is much more proof against him available. In my view, it’s a no-brainer that a guy like that should just own up to it, not say it’s not happening when evidence is out.
We Need to Watch Out
It seems that some people still commit social-engineering attacks which are a huge threat to the crypto users, between December 2024 and January 2025, people, at least, $65 million got stolen by simply pretending to be someone else. Some experts now think they could get to $2 billion stolen because the number of people pretending to be other people is increasing so fast.
I want to warn you that people are getting so good, especially when they make you download something, now they don’t even care if people see them because it’s all being recorded and people are getting very good at convincing everyone they are the real deal.
We Need Action Now
I urge law enforcement agencies to do something about what Hoby has done and others like him who steal crypto from people in Canada and all around the globe. Now it’s your turn to protect your crypto from getting stolen, never send your login details to an unsecure site and always check the login page for the ‘s’ in ‘https’.
