Gmail End-to-End Encryption Now on iOS & Android for Workspace

What’s New

I saw that Google finally put end to end encryption on the Gmail app for your phone. You now get to lock your mail on Android or an iPhone just like your big computer. My job gets safer because we send secret notes while we walk around. Workspace users need this tool because hackers want your private stuff.

How It Works

This thing uses a system called client side encryption to hide your text. You push the send button and the email turns into a code immediately. Google cannot look at your words no matter how hard they try. I keep my data because only the person who gets it can read it.

Compatibility Across Providers

If your friend has Gmail, the message looks like a normal chat in their box. You dont need extra apps for this to work right. People who use other mail sites open a web link to talk back to you. I think this makes talking to strangers much more safe.

Who Can Get It

You must have an Enterprise Plus plan to use this new stuff. Every admin needs to turn on the switch in the control room first. I checked and it works for Rapid Release groups right now. Your boss has to allow it on iOS and Android devices specifically.

How to Send an Encrypted Email

I start by hitting the compose button to write a new note. You tap the little lock picture at the top of your screen. Click the button for additional encryption and type your message. The lock icon tells you that your secrets are staying private.

Why It Matters

Shops that deal with secret papers need this on their phones. I find it very easy to protect my work secrets now. You get to stay safe without doing a lot of hard work. This change makes mobile mail as strong as a steel box.
