Google Photos Introduces Advanced Face Editing Tools

Google Photos is set to roll out a new “Touch Up” mode that allows users to edit specific facial features in their photos with precision. This update marks a significant improvement over the app’s previous capabilities, offering more control and convenience for users.

Currently hidden in the latest app update (version 7.56), the “Touch Up” mode requires downloading a small 16 MB file that powers the AI behind the tools. Once installed, users will have access to six sliders that let them adjust various aspects of a face: Smooth, Under Eyes, Irises, Teeth, Eyebrows, and Lips.

One of the standout features of this update is its ability to detect and edit individual faces in group photos. This means you can enhance one person’s smile or reduce under‑eye circles without affecting the appearance of others in the photo. Currently, the tool can handle up to six faces per photo.

This update is significant because it turns Google Photos into a more versatile editing tool, eliminating the need for separate apps for detailed face editing. Whether you’re touching up a selfie or improving a group shot, these new tools make it easier to achieve natural‑looking results.

Google hasn’t officially announced the release date for this feature, but since it’s already functional in test versions, it’s likely to be available soon, possibly in the next “Feature Drop.”
