10 Essential Hytale Tips for Minecraft Veterans and New Players
Generally, I think playing Hytale feels like coming home, it is similar to Minecraft, but there are some key differences. Normally, you would expect a game like this to be on Steam, but that is not the case here. Usually, I prefer games that are on Steam, but Hytale is an exception.
1. Hytale Isn’t on Steam (Yet)
Obviously, the first thing you need to do is download the game from the official site, it is a bit of a hassle, but it is worth it. Normally, I would say that downloading a game from a website is a bad idea, but in this case, it is the only way to get Hytale. Currently, the game is not available on Steam, but that may change in the future.
2. Find the Forgotten Temple Gateway Early
Basically, your first priority should be finding the Forgotten Temple Gateway, it is a hidden portal that will take you to a hub where you can log all the mobs you meet. Usually, I would say that this is a tedious task, but it is necessary if you want to unlock recipes and perks. Apparently, the hub’s statue drops blue “Memories” for each new creature, which is a nice bonus.
3. Sticks Drop From Trees and Bushes
Interestingly, in Hytale, you do not need to craft sticks from planks, instead, you can just chop down a tree or punch a bush and sticks will pop out. Generally, I think this is a more efficient way of getting sticks, and it is definitely easier than crafting them. Normally, I would say that this is a small detail, but it can make a big difference in the game.
4. Trees Follow Gravity
Apparently, when you cut down a tree, it will fall to the ground, just like in real life, and it will send logs, sticks, and sap crashing down. Usually, I would say that this is a cool feature, but it can also be dangerous, so be careful. Obviously, you will want to collect the sap, as it is a key ingredient for torches and candles.
5. Your Starter Home Needs Space for Workbenches
Basically, you will need a lot of space for your workbenches, as there are eight essential ones, each three blocks wide and two blocks tall, plus four optional ones. Generally, I think it is a good idea to build a big house, or you will end up knocking down walls later. Normally, I would say that this is a lot of work, but it is necessary if you want to progress in the game.
6. Place Chests Right Next To Workbenches
Obviously, the game’s inventory system is designed to auto-pull materials from chests that are right next to a workbench. Usually, I would say that this is a convenient feature, but you need to make sure that your chests are in the right place. Apparently, if the chest is a block away, nothing will happen, so design your workshop carefully.
7. Repair Kits Save Your Gear (But Cost a Lot)
Generally, I think that Repair Kits are a great way to fix your tools on the fly, but they can be expensive to craft. Normally, you will need 2 Linen Scraps, 1 Light Leather, and 1 Iron Ingot to make a Repair Kit. Obviously, this can be a challenge, especially early in the game, but it is worth it to keep your gear in good condition.
8. Iron Is Deep-Underground and Guarded
Apparently, iron is not as abundant as it is in Minecraft, and you will need to dig deep to find it. Usually, I would say that this is a challenge, but it is also a great opportunity to explore the game’s world. Obviously, you will need to be careful, as the deeper you go, the more dangerous it becomes.
9. Death Doesn’t Wipe Everything
Normally, when you die in a game, you lose everything, but that is not the case in Hytale. Generally, I think this is a nice feature, as it makes the game less frustrating. Obviously, you will still lose some of your items, but you will be able to retrieve them later.
10. Teleporters Make Travel Easy (Later On)
Apparently, Teleporters are a great way to travel in Hytale, but they can be difficult to craft. Usually, I would say that this is a late-game feature, but it is worth the effort. Obviously, you will need to upgrade your workbench, build an Arcanist’s Workbench, and gather the necessary materials to craft a Teleporter.
Final Thoughts
Generally, I think that Hytale is a great game, and these tips should help you get started. Obviously, there are many differences between Hytale and Minecraft, but that is what makes it interesting. Normally, I would say that a game like this is perfect for players who are looking for a new challenge. Apparently, the game’s unique features, such as gravity-bound trees and auto-pulling workbenches, make it a fun and exciting experience.
