Why Star Wars: Zero Company Is a Bold Bet
Gratitude to Lucasfilm and Respawn
I started Bit Reactor and I appreciate how Lucasfilm and Respawn help us build this. They gave a lot of money to a new group who you do not usually see getting help. You can watch us work without any boring rules holding our team back. My interview in PC Gamer shows that I really mean these words about our partners.
The Risk of Turn‑Based Tactics
A big brand name does not mean a niche game will always win. Look at Marvel’s Midnight Suns because its sales were less than people hoped for. This data shows you the big risk I am taking with this project today. I know you want something new so I ignore the safe path and keep moving.
A Vision for Fresh Gameplay
These big companies chose new things instead of copying the past. It is easy to follow a map but they trust my different ideas for this game. I blend the big stories of Mass Effect with the tactics you find in XCOM. You get permadeath and fast pauses and missions about real people in our world. My game serves as a gift for people who love PC games but it stays simple to learn.
What This Means for the Industry
I want this work to change how every game studio thinks about their own projects. There is 19,000 new games on Steam every year so you have to be special to stand out. The freedom we have lets us break the rules of normal games. Zero Company proves that a big name can help a small team succeed in a big way.
Headline
I thank Lucasfilm and Respawn for backing our risky strategy game.
