Major Update Introduces Encrypted Chat and Crypto Payments
Sam Altman’s World app has just received a major update, introducing encrypted chat and seamless crypto payments.
Crypto Payments Made Easy
The latest version of the app allows users to send, deposit, and withdraw cryptocurrency with ease, similar to Venmo. It supports a wide range‑range of cryptocurrencies, including USDC, EURC, wrapped Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 100 other tokens.
Identity Verification & Encrypted Chat
Launched in 2023, the World app aims to provide tools for verifying human identity in an AI‑driven era. The new upgrade adds end‑to‑end encryption for chat messages. Blue chat bubbles indicate verified humans, while gray bubbles denote unverified users. Profile photos are cross‑checked against stored images to ensure authenticity.
Iris‑Scanning Feature
In May, World introduced an iris‑scanning feature for U.S. customers, allowing them to create a unique “IrisCode” for identity verification in about 30 seconds.
Virtual Bank Accounts & Salary Integration
The latest update also includes virtual bank accounts, enabling users to receive salaries directly in the app and instantly convert funds into cryptocurrency.
Expanded Swapping and Trading
The app now supports swapping and trading across more than 100 assets, including World Chain native tokens and tokenized assets like gold. This upgrade underscores the company’s commitment to expanding partnerships and building a more integrated ecosystem for cryptocurrency usage.
